Kidnapped is a historical novel set in the 18th century at the same time as the ‘Appin murder’. Stevenson tells the story of a young man names David who, after his parents death, go out into the world to find his uncle, Ebenezer. But his uncle doesn’t want to have a nephew who, after his own death, he would have to give his inheritance to. So he tries very hard to get rid of David, by eventually selling him to Hoseason, who was planning on selling David into slavery. But David meets a man named Alan, who Hoseason was planning on killing and they escape Hoseason’s clutches together. They then plan on returning to David’s uncle to receive the inheritance. Luckily they run into Ebenezer’s lawyer who agrees to help David win the inheritance.
